~Dive Right INTO A POOL OF GEOMETRIC BLISS ~

Are you craving a little something different in your home’s decor? Are you looking to occupy a space in your home that has an architectural flair? If you are,  you may want to add a little geometry to your world. I’m not speaking of the math class you took in high school, but the geometric world of funky hexagons and fearless patterns. The geometric trend is a perfect way to energize your home. It’s a fabulous way to breathe life into a space and enhance a minimalist point of view and give a room an incredible polished look. If you want a room to look like you hired a designer, you’re going to have add a few pops of visual interest to your interiors. Patterns are fundamental and meet interior designer’s basic requirements while looking famously modern.Deciding to incorporate geometric into your home can be easy, but I am always asked how far should a person go? Do you use the patterns as an accent role or do you want to make a  bold statement with wallpaper? It’s about understanding which elements of a room should play the leading role and which should act as an assisting director. If you choose to add more than one geometric pattern go ahead. Having a slight variation between the tones keeps things feeling unoriginal. I just love the unexpected and so may you! Below are a few ways to you can add a little geometric flair to a space. Always remember have a little fun, be a little daring and never be boring!

An open airy construction piece just as West Elem’s below can provide and artful component to a negative space!

Sophistication meets geometry with a prism coffee table. It has a refined softness to it while furthering the modern look you are trying to achieve. It stimulates the senses every time one engages with it.

By adding a bold geometric rug you can make a bold WOW statement, like our designers did below. They added a small geometric metal accessory to tie the look together:

Another geometric trend is the addition of patterns and finishes to a piece of furniture. Here are two of our favorites!

The Haynes design is an innovative, architectural display and storage solution of pretty Mondrian geometries grounded by a black lacquer inset base. The grid design features useful pedestals and shelves that cantilever, suspend or float on the substantial iron frame.

This Is Not Your Grandmother's Wallpaper

Wallpaper, dear wallpaper how you have evolved over the years. Your fragile nature and influence has blossomed into an air of validity. Today's wallpaper can play a vital role in design and influencing the style of a room. It has the power to control the furnishings and overall feel of a room. It's the king to the castle, the drummer to the band, the lyrics to my favorite song. Wallpaper can be an excellent conversation starter to your dinner party or can help you project an air of confidence you've longed to acquire. Wallpaper can be used in small doses for a big design impact or in an entire room.

I have been on a quest to find a few of my favorite designs and I'd like to share a few with you today. Some are bold and unapologetic. In small doses they can be used in a powder bath, ceiling or the underside of a staircase. Covering a large wall or an entire room can certainly make a immense impact.  Regardless how you may use them, they are fun, make strong statements and are captivating in their own right. Wallpaper is  no longer passé, it's back with a vengeance and I love it!

Pucker Up Buttercup by: York Wall Covering

The vintage portraits of women's faces transcends time and style.  A touch of red against a white backdrop enhances each alluring face . It's feminine, fun and a perfect blend of traditional and modern. I love the artists pen-and- ink style.

 Anemone-Shell by: Astek Wallcovering

The handmade designs are inspired by the sea and it's movement of the tides. Astek gives its clients a glimpse at life beneath the waves. I find their Submerged collection to be calming, tropical and fresh. They bring a sense of serenity and vastness to a space.

Montauk by: Schumacher

The craftsmanship has elevated when they created this wall covering. This luxurious textured  wallpaper is crafted entirely by hand using humanely gathered natural feathers. I can see how the love for this wallpaper may scare you, but used in the correct setting and home,it can be spectacular!

 Magnetic Woodland's by:  Sian Zeng

If I had a daughter her bedroom walls would have been draped in Sian's wallpaper. It embodies the look and feel of sweet innocence, tutus and rosy cheeks.  This playful wallpaper allows children to create their own mythical  stories. It encourages them to use their imaginations amongst the trees using an array of wondrous magnetic creatures and write-on speech bubbles. It can act as an ever changing piece of art as the magnetic buildings, flowers and characters are moved around by your loved ones in the most in magical of ways.

Interior Design, The Icon, The Wrap Dress & The Woman Behind It All

She’s Legendary, Glamorous, & Fearless.. She’s Diane von Furstenberg.

A former Princess Diane of Furstenberg, Diane has always wanted to become someone of her own. With her Grace Kelly good looks she was certainly had the most photographed cheekbones in the 1970’s. She launched her fashion company DvF , in 1997 with the reintroduction of her famous wrap dress. The DvF line has proven it’s stain ability and is currently being sold in 70 countries and 45 free-standing shops world wide.Diane von Furstenberg’s famous knitted wrap dress was introduced in 1972. The light weight jersey material is not only figure flattering, but very forgiving. They became easy to wear for traveling and stylish for work. They replaced the constricting pantsuits, making women feel liberated. “Women today want versatile, simple, classic comfortable, slimming clothing”, she has told the Los Angeles Times. With hard work and dedication she had become the most marketable woman since Coco Chanel.Photo: Kravet.com Von Furstenburg effortlessly broadened her brand to home design. In 2014 she collaborated with Kravet  and designed home fabrics. Like her dress line her home fabrics are soft and bold. The bold prints, are unapologetic and not for the fearful. They are bold and full of expression. The collection exudes her fabulous sense for print & color plus her venturesome appetite for mixing unexpected patterns.  fabric final

The softer line is continues to show style and beauty. Diane's sand and stone designswere inspired by the desert. The floral designs show Von Furstenberg's sense offemininity and grace. Her angelic side comes to life in the fabrics. They make stunning window treatments andbreath life into upholstered furniture.

I believe Diane's line of fabrics at Kravet are both bold and calming. I can see incorporating her line into our urban, more modern commercial spaces. The softer lines can be beautifully  intertwined into our residential clients homes, as well. Diane makes it easy to create custom drapery, pillows, bedding and furniture with these new designs.

Luxury meets sophistication within the eyes of a style icon. Thank you Diane Von Furstenberg!

Wood, Tile, Leather, Stone, Concrete...Realistic Wallpaper?!

Did you ever think you would see the day the words Wallpaper and trend coincided?Gone are the days that of lackluster, uninspiring wallpaper.  The “feature wall” is still the strongest element wallpaper brings to a room, but recently we are seeing it take over more than just one wall.   One of my favorite new trends is the realistic wallpaper.  Tile, leather, concrete, wood, stone and brick are amongst the most popular.  It adds natural, earthy, effortless chic to any room whether you’re mixing it with stark modern elements or a vintage rustic feel!
