~Dive Right INTO A POOL OF GEOMETRIC BLISS ~

Are you craving a little something different in your home’s decor? Are you looking to occupy a space in your home that has an architectural flair? If you are,  you may want to add a little geometry to your world. I’m not speaking of the math class you took in high school, but the geometric world of funky hexagons and fearless patterns. The geometric trend is a perfect way to energize your home. It’s a fabulous way to breathe life into a space and enhance a minimalist point of view and give a room an incredible polished look. If you want a room to look like you hired a designer, you’re going to have add a few pops of visual interest to your interiors. Patterns are fundamental and meet interior designer’s basic requirements while looking famously modern.Deciding to incorporate geometric into your home can be easy, but I am always asked how far should a person go? Do you use the patterns as an accent role or do you want to make a  bold statement with wallpaper? It’s about understanding which elements of a room should play the leading role and which should act as an assisting director. If you choose to add more than one geometric pattern go ahead. Having a slight variation between the tones keeps things feeling unoriginal. I just love the unexpected and so may you! Below are a few ways to you can add a little geometric flair to a space. Always remember have a little fun, be a little daring and never be boring!

An open airy construction piece just as West Elem’s below can provide and artful component to a negative space!

Sophistication meets geometry with a prism coffee table. It has a refined softness to it while furthering the modern look you are trying to achieve. It stimulates the senses every time one engages with it.

Blue & Gold Geometric Shower Curtain By Society 6

By adding a bold geometric rug you can make a bold WOW statement, like our designers did below. They added a small geometric metal accessory to tie the look together:

Another geometric trend is the addition of patterns and finishes to a piece of furniture. Here are two of our favorites!

The Haynes design is an innovative, architectural display and storage solution of pretty Mondrian geometries grounded by a black lacquer inset base. The grid design features useful pedestals and shelves that cantilever, suspend or float on the substantial iron frame.

Tassel Your Way Over To A Field Of Pom Pom Fringe

Oh pretty tassels and fringe where have you been? I must admit I've missed you and its has been a pleasure see you dancing your way along the pillows edge and braiding you way up upholstery. The tide has turned in favor of these dangling embellishments. You are no longer my grandmother's cup to tea, but a more vibrant, youthful and playful version of yourselves. You are a trend that emerges from the banks of design and I must confess, I'm always happy you do. From pom poms hanging from a bench, to a fringe adorned pouf, to tassels on jewelry these three embellishments are all the rage. Their fun whimsical ways can bring a little excitement to your decor. Flirting their way into your homes in the most fashionable way.

I like to use tassels to bring in accent colors to a space and particularly  love how they use their charm to become the focal point. Tassels can be tiebacks to stylize traditional curtains or be used as exotic accouterments that can lead a bohemian quality to a piece of jewelry or home accessory.

Fringe was once considered over the top and old fashion. Today it's nothing but. I have incorporated fringe or even the look of fringe to add a little pizzazz to a room. It can be ultra chic and feel quite modern when used correctly. Remember to keep the visual weight of the fringe in balance with its fabric host. For example a heavy bullion fringe will not carry the weight of a sheer swag.

When it come to fringe I receive the age old question "how much is too much?" If you purchased that quintessential fringed ottoman you've had your eyes on, you may think twice before adding a fringed sofa to the mix.  If the thought of a fringed piece of furniture scares you, go ahead and add some accessories. You won't be sorry about adding a fringed throw, table runner or area rug.

50 Shades Of Blue

Did you know that there are over 50 shades of the color blue? From the lightest icy shade of  "Alice Blue" to one of the richest, 100% saturated "Oxford Blue",  this magnificent color stays sincere and honest. The color blue commands a room and without being fussy or confrontational.  It's like a best friend that is giving and honors the quality of a great friendship. Lighter hues can inspire relaxation and calmness to a bedroom. Crisp darker hues can add an immediate crispness to a room while blue stripes add layers and richness to a room. I love the classic combination of blue and white. It's like wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, it never goes out of style. The mixture of the two colors can be dressed up or down. When compared to black and white it can be more welcoming, maybe a little more likable, some may say.

Blue is the #1 favorite color of all people. From shades of the ethereal sky to the coolness of the waters edge the color blue can bring a beauty to your home.  From drapery to area rugs here are a few ways you can incorporate blue into your home's decor and a few of my favorite designs from Beasley & Henley.

Can Furniture Legs Be Sexy?

Does the topic of furniture legs sound somewhat abstruse or boring to you? You may be thinking this discussion should be left at the creative tables of your favorite designers. Maybe the thought never entered your mind, but today I’m about to bring a little light onto the subject. Some designers may call them sexy some may call them stilettos for chairs. Regardless of what they are called furniture legs can be blended into any interior settings, be it traditional or modern. I consider them to be fundamental elements of cabinetry and seating. They need to be taken seriously not only for their functionality, but because they can be one of the noted factors for furniture style. Furniture legs can be ascetically pleasing and useful. From a designers perspective we first consider how to use the legs to visually bolster a look or perception that we are trying to create for our clients. A unique leg can add warmth and beauty to a space. The style of your furniture legs can actually play a big role in solidifying the design of a space. From a functional perspective, we always look at the height of the leg. It’s crucial that the height of the piece is correct. Secondly the strength of the legs need to be accounted for. They need to be able to support the piece of furniture it carries. For example the S-shaped cabriole legs are made to support plenty of weight and are one of the most time-tested styles.  Lastly we look for style. We may choose a more tapered leg when going for a more modern, mid-century look. Or a turned wood leg that is highly decorative will surely make a statement in a room.Below you will find a few of Beasley & Henley designed rooms as well as a few of our favorite pieces of furniture with eye catching legs! Enjoy

How To Design Your Dream Dining Room

An inviting dining space is a home essential and chances are it’s one room in your home that could use a little attention. It’s not only about function, but a little fashion as well. It’s much more than just eating. It should be about the ambiance people feel when they dine in your home. A space where family and friends make time to share their lives. A place where a little drama may erupt in conversation or a place where a little drama can be felt within the décor. Your table is the anchor of the room and the surrounding chairs are just as important.  You want a table set that looks great, serves your dining needs and will last a long time. It’s important to take the time to select the right table for your room’s size and purpose. If you’re looking to go smaller or for great conversation and social gatherings, a round table is a great option. If you’re looking to go larger, a rectangular is popular choice. Most importantly don’t forget to confirm your dining room’s available space before making any table purchases. “Measure and measure again to before falling in love with a table that just won’t work.   It’s fun to add an eclectic mix of chairs to your dining space and a great way to add your own personal style. Make sure they are the right height for your table before falling in love with them!  I also love the look of a bench. So often in a dining space we think of individual chairs as our only choice. A bench with a medley of chairs works for any style of dining space from formal to casual, traditional to transitional. You can also cozy up to your favorite person and squeeze in a few more people during the holidays.  Plan for beautiful lighting in your dining room. Include that uniquely gorgeous chandelier you have been eyeing for a while now. The right fixture can do your space a major favour and exhibit your personal style. It can easily contribute to mood and functionality of the room. A light fixture is like a beautiful piece of jewelry that’s enjoyed from a far. It can be more adventurous because no one’s touching these hanging works of art. Your chandelier can act as the sculptural element in your dining room. It can create the exact mood in which you choose to feel in the space. Don’t forget to consider the diameter and height in which you choose to have your chandelier hung when redecorating the space.

How Home Interiors Can Impact Mood

When you walk into your home at the end of a long day, you’re most likely comforted by your familiar surroundings, but how do your guests feel? While your personal comfort is important, also consider the mood you want to set for visitors, and explore interior design solutions that will bring your desired atmosphere to life. Most homes on the market in Orlando, FL were built in the 2000s and are classified as “McMansions,” commonly featuring two-stories with extra-tall entrances and complex, high-pitched roofs. McMansion-style homes are often found in subdivisions, where homeowners association regulations limit exterior personalization. If your home looks just like your neighbor’s from the outside, adjust the interior design to set your space apart. Work with your interior designer to tweak mood-altering elements such as lighting, color and even furniture to create the perfect setting for you and your guests. RomanticTo spark a romantic mood in your home, aim for soft design elements. In the dining room, emulate an intimate restaurant setting by dimming the overhead lights and lighting candles on the table for a warm glow. Avoid bright, overstimulating paint hues and opt for a calmer palette. Muted pinks and blues or creamy whites are go-to romantic color options, while taupe and other "dusty" shades keep the space from looking too bright. Painted or dark wood furnishings with feminine curves pair well with cozy, overstuffed chairs or sofas. Thick curtains give a sense of privacy while fresh flowers and floral accents add a romantic touch. ProductiveFocus on functional design when catering to a household’s busy lifestyle. Abundant, natural light is ideal for the kitchen and home office, where the natural rays can help you feel more awake and energized. Be sure to incorporate lots of task lighting under cabinets or on desktops for the night hours so you can continue to work once the sun sets. Blue is often referred to as the most productive color, making it a popular paint choice for home offices. Play with color palettes that incorporate blue, white or other neutrals to find a balanced color scheme. Organizational furniture like filing cabinets and shelving units help eliminate clutter and distraction. Plenty of surface area and minimal trinkets inspire a more productive mood. InvitingIf your home is a frequent gathering place for friends and relatives, make sure your style sends a welcoming message. Well-lit common areas encourage conversation, so supplement natural light with warm ambient light from table and floor lamps. From pale straw to warm gold, cheerful shades of yellow receive praise as some of the best paint choices for the living room and kitchen alike—two of the most high-traffic areas in most homes. Decorate your gathering places with plenty of seating and familiar accents like framed pictures, books, magazines and houseplants. Your guests will feel right at home next time they visit. ElegantFinding a balance between sophisticated style and function is essential when you're aiming to set a more refined tone. Dramatic fixtures like sconces and chandeliers add light profiles unmatched by conventional lamps, and spotlighting helps draw attention to wall art and other decorative accents. Large pieces of furniture like wing chairs or tufted leather sofas emit timeless elegance yet remain comfortable and functional. Rich jewel tones like emerald green and ruby red add a pop of color in an accent wall, artwork or textiles, and these hues are a hot home design trend this year. The key to elegance is often quality over quantity, so keep throw pillows and blankets to a minimum, but do add a few pieces in luxurious fabrics like silk and velvet. These recommendations are simply a starting point — whether your home is a workspace or a sanctuary, collaborate with your interior designer to arrive at a style that reflects you personally and sets the right mood. By: Guest Blogger-  Erin Holdgate

7 Ways To Brighten A Dark Room

The cavern, the darkroom, the one space that just won’t lighten up — almost everyone has a part of their home that’s in permanent twilight. A room that’s too dark doesn’t just hide your decor — it reduces use. Who wants to sit in the gloom? Fortunately, you don’t have to. If you’re lacking in natural light but want to give a room a fresh makeover to chase away the darkness, try these tips:

  1. Paint the Walls

“Thanks, Captain Obvious,” you might be tempted to chortle. But painting your walls a light color will immediately give any room a brighter atmosphere. Dark blues, browns, and reds soak up ambient light, and make a room seem darker than it actually is. That’s great for a firelit library but less than ideal for a living room. If you want an airier, brighter space, consider repainting the walls in light yellow, gray, green, or white. And don’t forget about your ceiling — a lighter color will make it seem higher.

  1. Hang a Mirror or Metallics

Naturally, the mirror’s reflective surface — or that of a mirrored statement piece — will bounce around light and add the appearance of openness. Metallic accents on wall-hangings or furniture will have a similar, though smaller, impact. Be careful not to overdo it, though. Too many mirrors will give your formerly dark room a carnival funhouse feel.

  1. Accent the Furniture

Dark furniture could be exacerbating the room’s lack of light, but reupholstery can be expensive. Plus, you picked out those couches and chairs for a reason, right? Keep them, but drape them with light-colored blankets and pillows, and choose a bright accent rug to bring it all together.

  1. ...Or Replace It

If you’re having a hard time making your bulky furniture appear lighter through accessories alone, it might be time to swap that heavy, solid-wood coffee table for something smaller and more airy, perhaps with a glass top. Replace cabinets with open shelving. Instead of a couch, try a loveseat and a chair to retain seating while spreading out the visual weight of the furniture.

  1. Add the Right Lighting

Don’t hold back when it comes to lamps — illuminate every dark corner and side table you see fit. But choose your lampshades carefully. Traditional cone-shaped shades direct light downward, which concentrates it on whatever surface the lamp is standing on. That doesn’t do much to make the room feel brighter — it just draws your eye downward. Cylindrical shades allow light to bounce off the ceiling and walls, increasing indirect light and more effectively driving shadows out of corners. While you’re re-thinking your lighting, swap out dim incandescent bulbs with LEDs or CFLs that are far brighter with lower wattage (and they’ll help your energy bill, too).    6. DeclutterLook around the room — are your shelves and tables lined with trinkets, books, and other decor? Sometimes simpler is better. Display only the books that mean the most to you. Instead of five photographs on your end table, try just one. Move your collections of CDs and DVDs into a cabinet. Displaying fewer small objects emphasizes clean lines and can make your room look airier.

  1. Don’t Crowd Your Walls

Totally bare walls are depressing. But cramming every inch of space from floor to ceiling with photographs, art, and wall hangings just crowds out light. Don’t think of your walls as a storage space for all your paintings and posters and wall hangings — instead, aim to focus the eye on one or a few key elements. Orderly grids that make good use of vertical space can direct the eye upward and outward to the borders of the room. And remember — your wall isn’t just defined by what’s hanging on it. Utilizing blank space can brighten things up if your wall is a light-reflecting color. Sam Radbil is a contributing member of the marketing and communications team at ABODO, an online apartment marketplace. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, an unexpected eclectic combination of interiors I'd like to say. It should look effortless and mixed with ease. Don't over think it, just allow the pieces to speak for themselves. Try and keep a monochromatic color palette. It can give the space a more coherent theme.

Ways To Infuse Orange Into Your Home Décor This FAll

Marking the beginning of Fall, pumpkin spiced lattes have made their presence in our favorite coffee shops and fall festivals have begun with their variety of fun filled activities. The shades of Fall such as orange, yellow and brown make for bewitching accents for the home. This week I want to focus on how the happy color orange can be introduced into your home decor and how its many flavors can bring warmth and energy into a space. Physically, this flamboyant color stimulates activity and socialization. It's time to inject a little fun into your life, don't you think? In home decor, it can revitalize and refresh a room in the most attractive way. Playfully dramatic, orange can wake you up in the morning, draw attention to a space or act as the star, making it the focal point to a room.  If your not ready to take the full "orange" plunge, introducing a piece of artwork, bedding, lamp or  pillows will add a surprising splash of color your room craves to have. The brightly colored hue of orange makes for a great contrast to neutral furnishings. It won't be a overpowering, but can still be beautiful. Today we appreciate orange in all its varying shades and the spark of energy it can add to a home. Let's commemorate it in your home and allow this versatile color to bring an uplifting mood. Let us inspire you with the many ways our design team incorporated orange into their designs. Enjoy the photos as we say cheers with our pumpkin lattes in hand. orange orange-boretto-great-room1-naples-beasley-and-henley-interior-design-2016orange-headboard-2orange-fuseorange-fuse-2lampl #4untitled-1small_0020_elan_audubon_015
