Emu Bay House | Modernistic Wide Views

This modern bay house by architect Max Pritchett is located in Emu Bay, SA, Australia. The concept design is of a relaxed home holiday with wide views and sheltered outdoor areas. The house lays on an exposed site of sweeping views. The living area is sheltered with a dominant floating “lid” roof. It has two bedrooms on its wing that surround  a rear-sheltered courtyard focusing on a wood-fired pizza oven. The sheltered outdoor space is complemented with expansive decks along the side of the living area. To maximize the views and create the dramatic form, the house is elevated a meter above the ground.

Situated one meter below the street level, the Café la Miell by Suppose Design Office allows you to see bystanders admiring the solid concrete architecture. It also lets the Café utilize the basement fully. The slanting roof has shingle lining it on the exterior. Semi-glassy ceilings and a brilliant pattern of lights, both inside the cafeteria and on the terrace, definitely lend the entire construction a grace of its own.

Twilight: New Moon House selling For $3.3 million

Chris Weitz, the noted director of the movie Twilight: New Moon would be more than pleased with the fabulous work done by Arthur Erickson, the architect of the wonderful mansion featured in the movie. Going for a minimum asking price of $3.3 million, the stunning five-bedroom property in West Vancouver is now owned by Edward and the rest of the Cullen family. Perfectly perched on half an acre on a creek-side lot, the property was given a face-lift in 2001 for the movie itself.               

The Momentary City – Urban piece of Oriental Philosophy

The Momentary City is a delicate sequence in the anonymously ever-chaning cityscape of Hefei, China. Beijing-based Vector Architects have designed this structure to convey a glimpse of sky and an instance of tranquility, filtering dust and noise, retaining light and shadow, plants, delicate phenomena in a subtle hierarchy.The Momentary City is a series of courtyards between indoor space and outdoor city, enclosed by fiber glass grid screens that cast light and reflect the courtyard themes, affording transparency from the outside.With its orientally austere display of warm materials, perforated fiber glass, blonde wood, white surfaces, copper shell and gentle tree silhouettes, the Momentary City is tranquil yet thought-challenging, a refined array of feelings.                

Mystic and eco-friendly Dar Hi Hotel in Tunisia

This marvelous eco-friendly hotel in the desert is an uncommon project of Parisian designer Matali Crasset. Located at the edge of the Sahara desert in Tunisia and overlooking a palm tree oasis, this retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation was designed with ecological conscience and oriental philosophy. The concepts of air -- in the elevated houses -- and dune – in the rooms located by the sand -- are omni-present.Especially intriguing is the presence of Moorish-inspired elements, from the massive yet sinuous wall of the main facade to the small and symbolic perforations in the earth and sand-colored walls, to the blue tiles of the steam rooms.

The residence is lined around a central courtyard with an outdoor dining place.
